Chudomir Museum

The house of the distinguished Bulgarian writer, artist and social activist Dimitar Chorbadzhiyski – Chudomir in Kazanlak was declared a museum the very next year after his death – in 1968. It is an architectural monument of culture of national importance. In its current form, the museum complex was opened in 1979 and includes the modest Chudomir House with its unique atmosphere; art-documentary exposition, located in three halls with a total area of ​​300 sq. m.; a modern storage room and a cozy conference room with multimedia equipment.
The museum is a municipal cultural institute and takes care of the preservation, research and promotion of the extremely rich creative heritage of Chudomir. It houses more than 15,000 original manuscripts, drawings, sketches, letters, books and personal belongings of Chudomir and his wife, the artist Mara Chorbadzhiyska. This is the only literary and artistic museum in Bulgaria. It is included in the “One Hundred National Tourist Sites” movement. It is the headquarters of the prestigious Chudomir cultural foundation.
